Juwan Howard explains how Michigan rebounded after slow start vs. Colorado State

Juwan Howard wasn’t thrilled with how Michigan started their showdown against Colorado State. However, the leader of the Wolverines was happy when the final buzzer sounded, as Michigan advances with a 75-63 victory.
After the victory, Howard revealed what he told his team at halftime to get Michigan in the frame of mind to get a victory.
“Get back to our habits,” Howard told CBS’s Jamie Erdahl. “You know, defensively, we had to do a better job against the three-point line. We also offensively had to take our time, we gave them too many possessions. Nine turnovers, as well as overall, we were just — it sped us up. What’s been our meat and potatoes is our inside-play. Our guys really rallied together, led by Hunter Dickinson.”
With guard DeVante’ Jones sidelined, the aforementioned star center Hunter Dickinson put the team on his back. To illustrate, Dickinson led the Wolverines to victory, scoring 21 points and pulling down six rebounds. Additionally, guards Eli Brooks and Frankie Collins contributed 16 and 14 points to the cause, respectively.

Continuing, Howard gave respect to his opponents in Colorado State.
“Let me give credit to Colorado State. Their staff and players,” stated Howard, when asked about Michigan being stagnant to start the game. “You talk about stagnant because they had a great defense. They’re a very competitive team, a very skilled team and they’re well-coached.”
Moreover, Colorado State got great production out of forward Dischon Thomas in their loss. His 15 points didn’t go towards a victory, but the Rams forward can take solace in the fact that he did his part. Colorado State accumulated an impressive record of 25-5 on the season, but the disappointment losing to Michigan in the NCAA Tournament brings stings at the moment.
Now, Michigan awaits the victor of Thursday’s showdown between Tennessee and Longwood. Whether it’s the Volunteers or the Lancers, Juwan Howard will have the Wolverines ready to play on Saturday.
