LOOK: Michigan team, student section to wear shirts Saturday night honoring Michigan State following shooting
Michigan hosts Michigan State in a basketball game on Saturday night, which will also serve as the most high-profile event involving Michigan State since the shooting on Monday that killed three and sent another five to the hospital. Ahead of the matchup between rivals at Crisler Center, the Wolverines have made some T-shirts to honor the Spartans.
The shirts, being worn by the team for pregame warmups and placed on the seats around the student section, are the classic maize, but read “Michigan basketball stands with MSU” across the chest. A simple, straightforward gesture — among many to come — on Saturday night.
Along with the shirts, the student section seats also have a “Spartan Strong” sign in white with green lettering.
Also visible in the picture is a wristband that fans will put on. Normally, they are synced up to do a pregame light show with some maize and blue, but on Saturday night they will be in green and white, to honor MSU ahead of the game.

LOOK: Crisler Center lit up in green moments before Michigan hosts Michigan State in basketball
The tributes and stands of solidarity with Michigan State have been numerous in the week since a shooting on Monday killed three and wounded five more. In-state rival Michigan has been among the chief participants.
Moments before the two men’s basketball teams squared off on Saturday night in Ann Arbor, via the use of some crowd-worn wristbands, Crisler Center was lit up green. It was cool sight to see, and another small gesture after the unthinkable happened.
Saturday night is the first game the Michigan State men’s basketball team has played since the shooting, and what would normally be a hornet’s nest was, for a few moments, a safe harbor.
