Matt Leinart reacts to Michigan's national championship victory
The Michigan Wolverines beat the Washington Huskies to win the national championship and launch a celebration in Ann Arbor. It was a cathartic moment for a program that has been arguing that it’s them against the world all season long.
After the game, former USC quarterback and current analyst Matt Leinart posted his reaction to the championship.
“Congrats @UMichFootball on a hell of a season battling all the outside noise and continuing to chop wood week after week!” Leinart posted.
That outside noise has been incredibly loud for Michigan, given that head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended twice for two different issues. It was still a major distraction for the Wolverines to overcome. There was an incredible amount of noise thanks to those issues and the team still went 15-0 to become national champions.
Matt Leinart does know a thing or two about both winning national championships and doing so despite distractions. He was, after all, the quarterback at USC during the Trojans’ phenomenal run during the 2000s. There, he won two national championships.
Michigan, in the end, was a dominant force all season long with a 15-0 record. In the championship game itself, the Wolverines were able to dominate the line of scrimmage. The defensive line put consistent pressure on Washington’s Michael Penix Jr and forced him into uncharacteristic mistakes, while the Michigan ground attack had 303 yards and four rushing touchdowns.

Gators faithful react to Billy Napier news
For running back Blake Corum, the game was a matter of taking care of business. It was an exclamation point on his phenomenal college career. That career and business is finished now.
“We came back for it. We came back to get the Natty, came back to win for Michigan, and we did it. I’m just so blessed and speechless. I’m just trying to take everything in,” Corum said. “When we set the comeback, it was a lot of us. We said we had unfinished business, so I’ll leave you all with this. The business is finished.”
Kirk Herbstreit congratulates Michigan on winning national championship
Former Ohio State player and current broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit was on the call for the national championship game. After it was over, he took the time to congratulate Michigan on winning the national championship.
“Congratulations to @UMichFootball for winning the national championship!” Herbstreit posted. “The team has been focused on this night for an entire year. Player led teams are the most dangerous teams. Congratulations.”
