Michigan big man Vladislav Goldin didn’t allow the Wolverines’ 75-62 loss to Michigan State on Friday to dampen his spirits. After the game, Goldin proposed to his girlfriend, Camryn Vogler, on the court.

“Said he’d been keeping the ring in the locker room since he got it,” Detroit Free Press’ Tony Garcia wrote on X. “And yes, she’d been pressuring him (lovingly) more than a year.”

Despite ending up on the losing end of the rivalry showdown, Vladislav Goldin tallied 21 points and five rebounds against the Spartans. He’ll have a chance to exact revenge against Michigan State on March 9, when the two teams face off again in their regular-season finale.

The heated battle on Friday was Goldin’s first time playing in the rivalry game. He transferred to Michigan this offseason after spending three seasons at FAU and his freshman year at Texas Tech.

Goldin has been key to Michigan’s success this season. He is leading the team in scoring with 15.7 points per game on 64% shooting. He’s also averaging 6.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks a night. After the loss on Friday, Michigan head coach Dusty May credited Goldin for his stellar performance.

“We really haven’t shot it well in probably three or four weeks,” May said. “We liked some of them. Some of them were rushed. Some of them were out of rhythm. I just don’t think we ever really generated any good offensive rhythm for 40 minutes. We were able to get Vlad established down low. I thought he made some strong plays. But we just didn’t move the ball with the crispness, and we didn’t cut with the same level of pace that we typically do.

“We just didn’t play the way we needed to, to find a way to win this game in this environment with what’s at stake.”

Michigan signs Dusty May to new contract

On Friday, Michigan secured head coach Dusty May‘s future with the program by signing the 48-year-old to a new multi-year contract. Ahead of the Wolverines’ showdown against Michigan State on Friday night, May provided Wolverines fans with a few encouraging words about the deal.

“I think it makes it obvious. I’m staying at Michigan,” May said, per CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander.

May is in his first year of a five-year contract with Michigan. Nonetheless, some fans were concerned about May leaving Michigan after Indiana head coach Mike Woodson revealed he will be stepping down at the end of this season.

Indiana is May’s alma mater. He served as a team manager for the Hoosiers under Bob Knight from 1996-2000. Evidently, May doesn’t plan on leaving Ann Arbor for the place he once called home.
