Michigan defensive back Kody Jones has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.

Jones was a junior for the Wolverines who made relatively limited contributions during his three years on campus. He finished with six tackles in seven games played across the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

He played mostly special teams and saw limited action as a reserve in the secondary in 2024.

Prior to enrolling at Michigan, Kody Jones was a highly touted prospect, a four-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 261 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. He also checked in as the No. 29 cornerback in the class and the No. 8 overall player in the state of Tennessee, hailing from Germantown (TN) Germantown.

Michigan adds transfer portal quarterback

While Michigan is expected to lose Kody Jones to the transfer portal, it has also made some additions via the portal. One of them is a quarterback.

Fresno State Bulldogs quarterback Mikey Keene has committed to transfer to the Michigan Wolverines, On3’s Hayes Fawcett has learned.

Michigan will now be Keene’s third stop as a college quarterback, having previously played for the UCF Knights as well as Fresno State. His transfer recruitment then became one of the most interesting to follow as one of the top Group of Five players in the portal, as he also took a visit with Ole Miss as well as with Michigan.

Keene originally went to Fresno State looking for an opportunity to earn the starting job. He did and over two seasons he played in 24 games. With the Bulldogs, Keene completed 68.7 percent of his passes for 5,868 and 42 touchdowns to 21 interceptions. He has a career passing yards per game average of 211.4 yards.

In his time with UCF, Keene did see some significant playing time, appearing in 15 games, often as an injury replacement. However, in his sophomore season, he only played in four games, using a redshirt as he transferred out of the program. That will make him a fifth-year senior in 2025.

On3’s Dan Morrison also contributed to this report.
