Michigan offensive lineman Jeffrey Persi enters Transfer Portal
Michigan Wolverines offensive lineman Jeffrey Persi has entered the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.
Coming out of high school at JSerra Catholic in California, Jeffrey Persi was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 32nd-ranked offensive tackle and the 310th-ranked player nationally in that recruiting cycle.
Coming out of high school, where he had converted from tight end to tackle, Jeffrey Persi had offers from programs around the country, including Oklahoma, Nebraska, and TCU. He would also earn all-league and all-state honors and was selected for the US National Team in the 2020 International Bowl.
Jeffrey Persi spent five seasons with Michigan. During that time, he was a part of the 2022 Joe Moore Award winning offensive line, won the Big Ten three times, and helped the Wolverines to win the 2023 national championship. Through his first two college seasons, he only played in two games, allowing him to use extra eligibility from the 2020 season while still redshirting in 2021. That will leave him with one more season of eligibility going into his sixth year of college football.
In his time with Michigan, Jeffrey Persi received numerous honors. That includes being a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. He also appeared in 38 games, often on special teams. However, that playing time including 14 games on the offensive line with three starts at left tackle.

Despite all the success Michigan has had during the time Jeffrey Persi spent with the program, 2024 was a step back for the team on the field. The Wolverines went 8-5, struggling on offense. However, they did add a fourth-straight win over Ohio State.
The transfer portal opened on Monday, December 9th, and ran through December 28th. The portal can also open for other reasons, like a change at head coach. On top of that, there will be another transfer window in the Spring, following practice then.
Michigan currently has the eighth-ranked transfer class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That class includes 23 players who have left and 13 players who have joined the program. Jeffrey Persi is one of six offensive linemen who are exiting the program through the Transfer Portal. Meanwhile, the Wolverines have added two offensive linemen to their roster through the portal. There is also time for the Wolverines to add more players through the portal.
