Michigan has reportedly made a decision on a starting QB for Saturday’s game against Michigan State. Davis Warren is expected to be the starter, according to a report from CBS Sports.

Warren began the year as Michigan’s starting quarterback, getting the nod through the first three games of the year. However, he hasn’t played since Week 3 as Alex Orji and Jack Tuttle took turns under center.

Warren completed 66.7% of his passes for 444 yards and two touchdowns across his three starts this year. However, in his final outing, he went 11-for-14 for 122 yards but threw three interceptions in a victory over Arkansas State.

In the time since, Orji and Tuttle got some looks at quarterback for Michigan, which takes a 4-3 record into Saturday’s game against its in-state rival. But the decision to go back to Warren is a shift from the beginning of the week when Sherrone Moore hinted Tuttle could start against MSU.

“I think right now, Jack (Tuttle) will be the guy,” Moore said on his Monday radio show, via Aaron McMann. “But you have to go through the week and see what happens.”

With his 444 yards, Warren is Michigan’s leader in passing heading into Week 9. Tuttle isn’t far behind him with 306 passing yards and a touchdown while Orji leads the Wolverines with three passing touchdowns to go with 148 passing yards and 124 rushing yards.

Michigan is coming off a 21-7 loss to Illinois last week in Champaign, and Moore kept the competition open for the starting quarterback job. However, he reaffirmed Kirk Campbell would remain the play-caller despite the Wolverines’ struggles this year. UM enters Week 9 tied for No. 118 in the nation with 308.6 yards of offense per game and 112th in scoring with 21.1 points on average.

Michigan and Michigan State will square off in East Lansing to cap off the Big Ten’s Saturday slate of games this week. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.
