Michigan running back CJ Stokes enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Michigan running back CJ Stokes is officially in the transfer portal, On3 has learned. He ran for 273 yards on 55 rushing attempts as a true freshman in 2022 but only saw action in two games this season before deciding to leave.
After that very promising true freshman season where Stokes wound up as the Wolverines’ No. 3 man in the running back rotation, hopes were high for him in the same role as a sophomore with potential to take over a much larger load as his career progressed. Instead, Stokes played in just a couple games back in September and received four total carries before going down with an injury. That injury was never disclosed to the public but kept Stokes out for the remainder of the season. As of his transfer, there are still no details on what actually sidelined him.
Stokes played high school football at the Hammond School in Columbia, SC, where he was a three-star recruit in the 2022 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also rated as the No. 793 overall player and the No. 9 prospect out of South Carolina for his cycle.
