The Michigan Wolverines honored victims of the Oxford High School shooting in the Big Ten Championship game. Michigan wore yellow patches on its jersey in the shape of the Oxford High logo to honor victims and the entire Oxford community. Now, Michigan’s official merchandise retailer, The M Den, is selling those patches to continue giving back to the community.
According to ESPN’s Tom VanHaaren, the patches will cost $5 each and Michigan will be giving all of the proceeds to the community in Oxford.
“(The M Den) is selling the patches Michigan wore on Saturday to honor the victims and community in Oxford,” VanHaaren tweeted. “Pathes are $5 & 100% of the proceeds are going to the Oxford community. MDen, Valiant Management, Michigan athletics & the Hutchinson family were instrumental in this effort.”
The patches on Michigan’s jerseys honored Tate Myre
On the patch were the letters “TM” and the number “42. They represent Tate Myre, a senior football player that had received a scholarship. He was one of the four students that were killed in the shooting. There is a petition to change the name of Oxford High’s football stadium to honor Myre. Early reports indicate that Myre attempted to disarm the shooter during the attack.

Under the “TM” and “42” on Michigan’s patches were four hearts, that represent Myre and the other three victims of the shooting. The other three victims of the shooting were Hana St. Juliana, Madisyn Baldwin and Justin Shilling.
Seven others were injured in the attack, including a teacher. The 15-year-old sophomore shooter has been charged with murder and terrorism as an adult. He faces life in prison.
Michigan wore the patches in the Big Ten title game, where the Wolverines defeated Iowa to clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff. Georgia is next up for Michigan in the CFP semifinal.
