Michigan takes victory lap over Jim Harbaugh news
Following the big news that Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh would be returning to the Wolverines, the school took a victory lap on social media to celebrate. Michigan’s official Twitter account shared a photo of Harbaugh with “Go Blue” behind him, excited that he would be returning to help defend their Big Ten title.
Michigan celebrates Jim Harbaugh news
The news that Harbaugh was staying with the Wolverines program sent a shockwave through the Big Ten Conference on Wednesday night. Initial reports and sources indicated that the Vikings’ coaching vacancy was all but a done-deal for the team and Harbaugh, and that Michigan had already begun building a list of candidates to replace their coach.
Now, Harbaugh will look to repeat as Big Ten champion and go for two-straight wins over their rival Ohio State. If the school’s social media is any indication, Michigan is breathing a little bit easier without having to worry about an overhaul of their program.
Michigan found great success last season under Harbaugh, defeating Ohio State, winning the Big Ten title and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff. However, there was talk around the program that his job security was in question before the 2021 season. Harbaugh had his base salary cut by the Wolverines, from $8 million to $4 million as he signed a four-year extension.
Now it seems that winning has made everybody involved a much happier person, as Harbaugh and Michigan both are relieved that he will continue to coach for them.

Harbaugh not on same page as Vikings
A new report on Wednesday night seemed to explain where the two sides differed heading into the interview, as the Vikings and Harbaugh did not seem to connect.
In a Twitter thread, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported Harbaugh indeed went into the interview thinking the job was his. That seemed to support a report from The Wolverine’s Chris Balas saying Harbaugh went to the interview planning to sign a contract to become Minnesota’s next head coach.
But Minnesota viewed the interview differently. Instead of being a “slam dunk,” the Vikings didn’t offer Harbaugh a deal, Cronin said. Minnesota also followed the same format it did with New York Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham on Tuesday, she reported.
