Jim Harbaugh: Gemon Green, Ja'Den McBurrows injured during Michigan State tunnel brawl
Following an ugly incident in a tunnel at the Big House on Saturday, in which Michigan State players were filmed assaulting two Michigan players, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed his players suffered injuries.
Harbaugh did not elaborate on the nature of the injuries but noted both Gemon Green and Ja’Den McBurrows suffered physical injury, according to The Wolverine’s Anthony Broome.
“Both players have injuries,” Broome wrote on Twitter. “That is the only update from Michigan.”
The incident happened following the game, when players from both teams were headed to the locker room.
It’s unclear what exactly led to the start of the confrontation, but the entire incident is now under investigation by police. There are multiple video angles of the fracas.
Harbaugh called it ‘sickening.’
“Right now, we have an ongoing police investigation. What happened in the tunnel was egregious,” Harbaugh said. “It’s sickening to watch the videos, the ones that are on social media right now, and also the ABC tunnel cam that’s in a higher elevation and shows much more of what took place.
“As I said, those are sickening to watch. There needs to be accountability. There needs to be a full, thorough, timely investigation. I can’t imagine that these will … that this will not result in criminal charges. The videos are bad, and it’s clear what transpired. It seems very, very open and shut. As they say … watch the tape.”

Health of players involved in tunnel brawl unclear
Harbaugh’s revelation that both Gemon Green and Ja’Den McBurrows suffered injuries as a result of the brawl in the tunnel doesn’t come as a big surprise, though their health going forward will bear monitoring.
For now, Michigan is restraining most comment on the incident due to the ongoing investigation.
The Wolverines knocked off the Spartans 29-7 on Saturday prior to the rumble that exploded virally on social media following the game. Somehow Michigan will attempt to refocus for a game against Rutgers this week, despite the distractions.
Michigan is 8-0 and vying for a spot in the Big Ten title game and ultimately a spot in the College Football Playoff.
“They’ve given all their statements to the police, and they were walking up the tunnel together. You can see that in the video,” Harbaugh said. “Gemon was punched, and then Ja’Den was trying to help. We’ll let the investigation proceed from there.”
