Hunter Dickinson shares why Wisconsin win meant more
Michigan and Wisconsin have had an intense rivalry in the Big Ten for the past few seasons, and on Sunday the Wolverines got the last laugh. Hunter Dickinson hit a buzzer-beating three pointer to send the game into overtime, where Michigan would outlast the Badgers in a 87-79 home victory. After the game, Dickinson was asked if how chippy the rivalry has been made the Wolverines third straight win even sweeter.
“Oh for sure, for sure. I couldn’t let them use that ski mask picture against me again for sure. I needed this one bad,” Dickinson said.
Dickinson sported a ski mask upon his arrival at Kohl Center in their last meeting with the Badgers earlier this season on Valentine’s Day, claiming that he was going to steal a win for Michigan. The Wolverines lost that matchup 64-59, and pictures of Dickinson in the ski mask were apparently used against him by Badgers’ fans trolling Michigan’s star center.
“You check my Twitter, I posted something already about that. I gave up Twitter for lent so I’ve been radio silent on that, but it’s Sunday so you can take that excuse and post that real quick,” Dickinson said.
Dickinson took to Twitter immediately after the game, posting the picture of himself in the infamous ski mask with no caption, letting the moment speak for itself.

He ended the game with 23 points and a team-high 10 rebounds in his redemption versus Wisconsin. His off the court antics and clutch shot at the end of regulation may have stole the show, but sophomore Kobe Bufkin‘s career-high 28 points were a major part of Michigan’s win, as he also scored six points in overtime.
Michigan’s most recent win marks their third in a row with two games remaining in the regular season. They’ve now worked their way up to a four-way tie for second place in the Big Ten standings, as they continue to battle for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi had the Wolverines as one of the ‘First Four Out’ in his latest bracketology, and they would be the five seed in the Big Ten Tournament if it started today.
The Wolverines will face Illinois and No. 15 Indiana in their final two games of the regular season, both on the road.
