The Michigan Wolverines went to State College and brought home their biggest win yet of the 2023 season, running the rock right down Penn State’s throats even without Jim Harbaugh roaming the sidelines. The Wolverines won the game in old-school fashion, piling up 227 rushing yards in the 24-15 win.
The team’s fiery emotion and passion spilled over into postgame interviews with coaches and players. On the Saturday evening edition of the Andy Staples podcast, Clayton Sayfie of TheWolverine.com broke down how this Michigan team has embraced their passion amid the Harbaugh suspension and ongoing legal battle.

Clayton Sayfie breaks down the Jim Harbaugh situation
It was a wild and chaotic day on Saturday, Nov. 11 as both Andy and Clayton noted on the podcast.
“Insane. My car ride here [to State College] went by like that because we were working the whole time and I’m sure it was obviously much crazier for those guys [the Michigan football team] getting off the plane,” Sayfie began.
“But even crazier, so this morning, they get to the stadium. Jim Harbaugh, I’m pretty sure, I don’t have this confirmed, but I’m pretty sure he was in the general vicinity of where we’re sitting right now in the stadium. Outside, waiting to come in if he gets that court order filed. There were some people starting rumors that he was on the bus. I think he might have been,” Sayfie continued.
Staples then dove into the wackiness of the timeline of the next court hearing for Michigan, which is slated for Friday morning, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m. EST. By the way, that’s the same day the Wolverines are traveling to Maryland for their Nov. 18 matchup. Kick for that one is set for noon EST.

Clayton Sayfie is still in disbelief about everything going on with Michigan football in the past few weeks.
“No, I can’t believe that any of it’s happened, let alone the timing of it. And it’s insane. Jim Harbaugh and they were just talking about it in the postgame. But he FaceTimed the team after. He gave a message to the team last night saying, ‘play angry.’ Which is something he would never say to us publicly, but sometimes you get the glimpses through the players. And I thought that was interesting. And it felt like they were doing….” Sayfie said.
“Everybody saw the Manny Diaz video kind of making fun of the signs. And the players after all the touchdowns and everything were doing the time thing. Checking their watches. So, this was a passionate team. I was down there on the field before the game. Right after the news hit, basically, that they weren’t gonna have him. And they all kind of had that look in their eye. The same one we just saw Trevor Keegan with in the postgame. And that is like, okay, we’re gonna have to do this. It’s Michigan against the world,” Sayfie said following the game on Saturday night.
