Over the past few seasons, the Michigan Wolverines have had arguably the best offensive line group in college football, and they have the hardware to prove it. To ensure that that tradition continues for the Wolverines, this offseason, head coach Jim Harbaugh jumped into the transfer portal and pulled out some of the top offensive line talents from across the country. One of the players Harbaugh and the Michigan program acquired was former Stanford Cardinal offensive lineman Myles Hinton.

Hinton has just completed his first spring ball portion of the offseason at Michigan and is eager to showcase why he was an excellent addition to the Wolverines’ roster. But during a recent interview, the Wolverines transfer portal acquisition discussed a different topic. Hinton gave his thoughts on the teams’ offensive lineman room and offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore.

“The room is amazing. Everybody’s cool, (and) everybody has a great attitude towards the sport. They all want to learn and have a great mentality toward making mistakes,” said Hinton. “If someone messes up, it’s not like, oh, you suck. It’s a learning experience.

“Same way with coach Moore. He’s not going to harp on a mistake, just don’t repeat it. Just common coaching, don’t make the same mistake over and over again. He’s not like a screamer or yeller, which I prefer, because that gets you nowhere, in my opinion. I feel like, for me, I learn better when someone talks to me like an equal. Because it’s like, I have respect for you; you have respect for me.”

Hinton is a six-foot-seven 320-pound offensive tackle hailing from John’s Creek, GA. In his three years at Stanford, he has racked up a number of accolades, including the Most Outstanding Freshman Award in 2020 and earning preseason All-Pac 12 honors to start this year. The former five-star recruit has the option to try his hand at the next level and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Hinton appears to have found himself the ideal landing spot outside the transfer portal. The former Cardinal-turned-Wolverine is enjoying the atmosphere and coaching style of Moore. Now, if Hinton and the rest of Michigan’s offensive line can put it all together and continue this camaraderie into 2023, Michigan could find themselves playing for a national championship to end next season. And Hinton could find himself as a possible top offensive lineman selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
