Cumming (Ga.) South Forsyth four-star interior offensive lineman Nathan Efobi took his official visit to Michigan on the weekend of Sep. 24. He ended up leaving Ann Arbor “genuinely surprised” that he liked the Wolverines as much as he did.

Efobi saw the passion of more than 100,000 fans as Michigan took down Maryland 34-27 at the Big House. He enjoyed his conversations with head coach Jim Harbaugh and co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore.

Most of all, Efobi realized that Michigan was the place he wanted to be. The Georgia native made that official Friday by announcing his commitment to the Wolverines over Miami.

“It was definitely a family culture and a hard-working culture,” Efobi told On3. “If you’re a recruit, everyone seems like you’re a celebrity. So when you’re there, it’s an amazing feeling cause you might not be a really top recruit, but they still make you feel like a celebrity. The coaches are always focused on getting better and how to get any recruit better. When I was with coach Moore, we were watching film and he was just telling me tips and everything and most coaches don’t even do that.”

Last year, Efobi had less than five offers. Now, he is going to play for one of the top college football programs in the country.

According to Efobi, his recruiting process has been “a humbling experience.” As a result, the 6-foot-4, 282-pound prospect is ready to go make an impact for the maize-and-blue.

“When I was talking to coach Moore, he was like, ‘Yeah, you’re a top recruit on our list,'” said Efobi, the No. 129 overall prospect and No. 10 interior offensive lineman in the 2023 On300. “Without him saying another word, that just made me feel incredible. Just hearing that from a person like him is an incredible feeling.”

Efobi trusts Michigan’s coaches

Moore was a key factor in Efobi’s decision. The four-star shared that they “clicked immediately” while talking and could go “on and on like we’re best friends for life.”

Efobi also wanted a coach who could develop him for the NFL. He believes that Moore can do that, especially since he helped the Wolverines last year win the Joe Moore Award, given to the nation’s top offensive line.

“I wouldn’t have picked that school if I didn’t think he could set me up,” Efobi said. “I think he can set me up with that and become a better person myself to other people.”

The four-star was also impressed with Harbaugh since he “wants the best from everybody.” Efobi added that he will fit “right at home” at Michigan because Harbaugh coaches similarly to his high school coaches.

“He knows that if you give 100%, you can give even more than that,” Efobi said. “He just wants to see you progress in life for the better.”

Efobi is excited to join a winning program

Michigan is currently ranked No. 3 in the College Football Playoff Top 25 Rankings. If the Wolverines defeat Illinois this weekend, they will head into The Game against Ohio State undefeated.

Over the last two seasons, Michigan’s record is 22-2. That gives Efobi a lot of motivation.

“It just makes you want to win more because there’s a tradition,” Efobi said. “When tradition comes, you gotta answer the call. It makes me more excited. It makes me want to work even harder for the people.”

Efobi is well aware of not only the Wolverines’ wins, but also their history and players’ individual accolades. Additionally, he is prepared to play at the Big House, the largest stadium in North America.

“It was crazy,” Efobi said of Michigan’s game against Maryland. “If you go there, you can’t even tell it wasn’t a rivalry game because it was loud. So many people were there. The stadium was packed.”
