According to ESPN, Michigan offensive coordinator Matt Weiss has been put on leave amid a police investigation. “Computer access crimes” are the issue surrounding Weiss, with the potential incident taking place this past December.

“Michigan co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss has been placed on leave, according to an athletic department spokesman, as the school’s police department told ESPN it is investigating a “report of computer access crimes” that occurred in December at the team’s football facility,” the ESPN report read.

Due to the investigation still being an ongoing one, no further information was provided. However, they are looking into an incident that took place at Schembechler Hall in Ann Arbor.

Weiss provided a statement on the situation to ESPN, saying he is “fully cooperating” with the investigation. Probably to no surprise but he is looking forward to everything getting wrapped up and moving on.

“I am aware of the ongoing investigation by the University of Michigan Police Department and fully cooperating with investigators,” Weiss said. “I look forward to the matter being resolved. Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, I will not have any further comment.”

A statement from the University of Michigan was a bit briefer. Only four words were required, letting everyone know Weiss was placed on leave.

“Matt Weiss is on leave,” said Michigan associate athletic director for public and media relations David Ablauf.

Weiss just completed his first season with Michigan, joining the program from the Baltimore Ravens at the NFL level. He was a huge part of getting the Wolverines back into the College Football Playoff and winning another Big Ten championship.

Michigan will have a good core of offensive players returning next season, headlined by running back Blake Corum. Quarterback JJ McCarthy will be back for the Wolverines as well, hoping to have another productive season.
