Michigan recruiting

Despite its back-to-back Big Ten titles and College Football Playoff appearances in the past two years, Michigan has taken some time getting its momentum going on the recruiting trail. No longer. The Wolverines look to have as much juice as anyone right now, holding the No. 5 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings with already 10 commits on board.

That includes elite quarterback Jadyn Davis, who provides a strong centerpiece for Jim Harbaugh and Co. to build this class around going forward.

But the recruiting roll appears to just be getting started, as Michigan is trending for nearly a half-dozen prospects in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

“Michigan has hosted a number of its biggest targets over the first quarter of the new year and has closed with top-100 prospects like Jadyn Davis and running back Jordan Marshall,” TheWolverine.com’s EJ Holland said. “And the momentum isn’t stopping any time soon. On300 offensive lineman Andrew Sprague is slated to make his decision this week, and all signs appear to be pointing towards U-M. Michigan could take as many as six or seven offensive linemen this cycle and is also in a strong position for On300 prospects Max Anderson and Bennett Warren, who visited over the weekend.

… The Wolverines are also trending well at the linebacker position with new position coach Chris Partridge making an instant impact on the trail. This class is already in the top five and has real potential to stay there.”

4-star OT Blake Frazier
School: Austin (Texas) Vandegrift
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 347
On3 RPM: Michigan 95.8%, Texas 1.1%

The Skinny: The Michigan legacy — son of former Wolverines’ lineman Steve Frazier — has been at the top of Michigan’s list in this class for a long time. Texas, Clemson, LSU and Florida are all among his top five schools with the Maize and Blue, but all signs point to him committing to Michigan when decision time comes.

4-star EDGE Brian Robinson
School: Austintown (Ohio) Fitch
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 146
On3 RPM: Michigan 89.0%, Pittsburgh 2.5%, Penn State 2.0%

The Skinny: After pulling one of the top prospects out of Ohio last month with running back Jordan Marshall, Michigan is looking to do so the same with Robinson. The in-state Buckeyes have made other recruits their top target at the position, and Michigan is in a very favorable spot as it stands right now.

4-star OT Andrew Sprague
School: Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 135
On3 RPM: Michigan 95.8%

The Skinny: The hulking 6-foot-8, 290-pound tackle is built for Big Ten football, and all signs point to that being where he ends up. Sprague still has a list of 10 schools he’s looking at, but tweeted on Tuesday night that he will be announcing his commitment on April 7. The RPM heavily favors the Wolverines here again.

4-star TE Brady Prieskorn
School: Rochester (Mich.) Adams
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 64
On3 RPM: Michigan 90.7%, Michigan State 2.6%, Penn State 2.2%

The Skinny: The younger brother of all-AAC tight end Caden Prieskorn, Brady is yet another terrific athlete at the tight end position — one of the strongest groups in the 2024 cycle. Last month, he named his top eight schools: Penn StateOhio StateMichiganAlabamaGeorgiaOle MissTennessee, and Miami. A commitment is expected before the start of his senior season.

4-star LB Aaron Chiles
School: Olney (Md.) Good Counsel
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 103
On3 RPM: Michigan 93.6%, Clemson 1.6%, Florida 1.4%

The Skinny: Chiles, one of the top players in loaded year for the state of Maryland, named his top 10 schools last month. And to no one’s surprise, the Wolverines were on it. Michigan has made a living in the DMV in recent years, and Chiles has been high on Jim Harbaugh and Co. for some time. The Wolverines are one of four schools scheduled to get an official visit from him this summer, along with Clemson, Florida and Notre Dame.
