On3 Roundtable: Jadyn Davis to play a 'big role' in helping Michigan land elite receivers
Charlotte (N.C) Providence Day School four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis announced his pledge to Michigan on March 31 ending months of speculation on where he might end up. That pledge also ended a two-cycle drought for the Wolverines who had not landed a top-50 quarterback since JJ McCarthy in 2021.
Now with Davis on board, the next major step for Jim Harbaugh and co. is getting him some offensive weapons to work with.
EJ Holland of The Wolverine said on the On3 Roundtable that the 6-foot-0.5, 190-pound signal-caller will also play a major role in helping Michigan land some of that talent.
“More top level receivers are going to look at Michigan,” Holland said. “You have Ryan Wingo, a guy who a lot of people haven’t talked about when it comes to Michigan, suddenly he’s more interested and has locked in an official visit. I think Jayden Davis is playing a big role with that.
“Receivers want to catch the ball from some of the top quarterbacks in the country and Jadyn Davis is obviously that. He’s been heavily involved with Wingo and Michigan has become a little bit of a dark horse in his recruitment.”
Davis, the No. 28 player in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, is the highest-ranked player in Michigan’s No. 5-ranked 2024 class. Of the 17 pledges the Wolverines’ class already has, their top five commitments are all on the offensive side of the ball.

“He already had had one teammate commit in three-star legacy wide receiver Channing Goodwin,” Holland added on. “I think some of these bigger fish coming in June like Ryan Wingo will see the benefits of Davis and will have a chance to spend some time around him.”

Other names for Davis to target
Michigan currently has come 2024 pledges that Davis will be excited to work with in the future. Some of those guys include top-100 tight end Brady Prieskorn and four-star running back Jordan Marshall.
As happy as he is to have those guys already, Davis will continue working on landing some names he’s already familiar with.
One of those names is Jordan Shipp, Davis’ other top high school teammate.
NC State currently holds a commanding lead to land Shipp according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), but he’ll have two of his teammate in his ear trying to persuade him to go to Michigan with them.
Bredell Richardson is also a guy that Davis could pull away away from another top team. Notre Dame is the heavy favorite to land Richardson according to RPM but he’s a 7-on-7 teammate with Davis and has likely heard the pitch about Michigan multiple times.
“I think you’re already seeing some of the benefits of Jayden Davis,” Holland noted.
