On300 EDGE Mario Eugenio decommits from Michigan Wolverines
Michigan lost a longtime commitment Thursday morning. On300 EDGE Mario Eugenio of Tampa (Fla.) Gaither announced via social media he was backing away from his pledge to the Wolverines.
In the post, Mario Eugenio thanking the Wolverines’ staff for the opportunity to recruit him.
Mario Eugenio had been committed since July
Mario Eugenio, the No. 265 player in the country, is the sixth known player to decommit from the Wolverines in the 2022 recruiting cycle. The four-star originally committed to the Wolverines on July 5 after taking an official visit to Michigan on June 18. He also visited Michigan for the Barbecue at the Big House recruiting event.
Mario Eugenio, who is 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, also took an official visit to Iowa State on June 11. At the time he committed, he also had offers from more than 30 schools.
Throughout his commitment, Mario Eugenio said he was actively recruiting for Michigan. He developed a friendship with Detroit Cass Tech consensus four-star defensive tackle Deone Walker. Walker is a priority recruit for the Wolverines. He lists Michigan as his top team over offers from more than 30 programs.

The defensive line and EDGE rushers remain a priority position for Michigan, so it will be interesting to see where the Wolverines go after the decommitment news.
The Wolverines have 17 pledges in their 2022 class, including one other defensive end in Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger consensus three-star Kevonte Henry and an outside linebacker in Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail consensus three-star Micah Pollard.
