No. 2 seed Shane Griffith (Michigan) earned the 4-3 win over No. 3 Patrick Kennedy (Iowa) but it came at a cost. Griffith hobbled off the mat after his win.

The Wolverine and former national champion wrestler hung on despite two stall calls. But his right leg appeared to be a bother based on his reaction.

It came shortly after his takedown to put him ahead 4-1. The exchange between Griffith and Kennedy can be seen below.

Griffith won the 2021 NCAA title with Stanford and was a national finalist the very next year. After becoming an All-American in 2023, Griffith elected to use his graduate year in Ann Arbor for the 2023-24 season.

He’ll now look to add a Big Ten title to his elite resume on a quest to get a second national title when it’s all said and done.
