Michigan's Shane Griffith spotted with limp ahead of Big Ten Wrestling Finals
Michigan’s Shane Griffith was spotted at the Big Ten Championships with a noticeable limp. The No. 2 seed and former national champion appeared to be injured in his semifinal win over Iowa’s Patrick Kennedy.
Griffith hung on for the 4-3 win Saturday night and is set to face Illinois‘ Edmond Ruth in Sunday’s final. The final round is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET.
While it’s a substantial amount of time to get additional tape and brace work done, as well as a concrete warmup ahead of the finals, it’s to-be-determined to see how Griffith performs.
During the consolation semifinal round Sunday, Griffith came out of the tunnel and walked behind the broadcast table in his Michigan warmups. However, he walked gingerly around the floor.
While the inclination is that he’ll wrestle later this evening, there are questions about Griffith’s status.
