For years, Michigan was chasing a national championship. Specifically the last three years of the Jim Harbaugh era before finally breaking through. One night in January completely changed everything for the Wolverines, taking down Washington in what was an undefeated season with the final goal officially checked off.

Now under the guidance of head coach Sherrone Moore, some teams might have a different edge playing against the reigning national champions. With Oregon coming to the Big House on Saturday, another team hoping to win it all, they will be telling themselves this is an important hurdle.

But if you ask Moore, this is nothing new for Michigan. No matter the state of the program, people are always coming after the Wolverines with a different venom, wanting to take them down. Getting the national championship did not change anything.

“We’re always hunted,” Moore said. “If you’re Michigan, you’re always hunted. Regardless of the year, the record, you’re always hunted. So, we’re approaching it like every other day and we got to go out there and attack. That’s it.”

Michigan has not been its normal self in 2024, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Moore has struggled to find consistent quarterback play, rotating between multiple players. As a result, three losses are already on the record and multiple tough games remain on the schedule.

One team for sure will be hunting Michigan — the Ohio State Buckeyes. Three consecutive losses have been the main talking point surrounding Ryan Day for quite some time now. Winning on Nov. 30 is quite important for the Buckeyes.

However, Moore knows all four teams will be looking to come after Michigan in some fashion. In his mind, it’s part of the job to have that mentality and be ready for everybody’s best performance when lined up against the Wolverines.
