It’s been an eventful few weeks for Michigan ahead of the final stretch of the regular season. The biggest story in college football has been the sign-stealing scandal in Ann Arbor, and the fallout meant Jim Harbaugh wouldn’t be on the sidelines for The Game against Ohio State.

One of the big talking points was the timeline of the plan orchestrated by former analyst Connor Stalions. He joined the staff in 2021 — the same year Michigan snapped a 10-year losing streak against Ohio State — and some wondered how much the sign-stealing factored into two straight victories.

Saturday, the Wolverines won their third straight game over the Buckeyes for the first time since the 1990s. They did so with an acting head coach in Harbaugh’s case, and Sherrone Moore knew what he wanted to say about everything over the last few weeks. However, he kept the focus on the players.

“A lot of thoughts and things I would love to say,” Moore said, via ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. “All I know is this team is as good as any team in the country and they prove it every week.”

Stalions resigned his position earlier this month as the Big Ten opted to suspend Harbaugh for the final three games of the regular season. That included the road game against Penn State and, most importantly, the Ohio State game.

But Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines pushed forward, and they won all three of those matchups — including Saturday’s 30-24 victory to clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship. That means Harbaugh will be back on the sidelines next week against Iowa.

And after Michigan wrapped up the three-peat, which hasn’t been done since the Lloyd Carr era in Ann Arbor, Moore gave another shoutout to Harbaugh in his postgame interview.

“I mean look at it. This is what it is. Michigan University we love you. The fans, the players. Man, this is all about the players. Coach Harbaugh, we got your back, baby. We love you. That was for you, baby,” Moore said.

Moore then praised the players for staying the course, but also pointed out Harbaugh returns to the sidelines in a week.

“It’s all the players. They just played their hearts out,” Moore said. “I mean look at this. This is what it’s all about. We’re just happy to be here and blessed. Coach, can’t wait to get you back. Just super excited.”
