Sherrone Moore on aiming for sixth win, bowl eligibility: 'We've gotta get it'
Michigan has not had the season it envisioned following a national championship. Even with a massive roster turnover and Jim Harbaugh leaving, the hope was promoting Sherrone Moore would help bring continuity to Ann Arbor. Nothing is definitive about the long-term but 2024 certainly has not gone the Wolverines’ way.
Currently having five wins, just one more is required to reach bowl eligibility. Moore knows the importance of reaching a bowl game, no matter the season’s final record. Whether it’s 6-6 or winning the final three games to go 8-4, Moore wants to play in a bowl game this year.
“We got to get it,” Moore said. “It’s huge for us, huge for the program. Just gives you another chance to go play football, to get better, and impact this team, and put another win in the win column.”
Excluding the 2020 COVID-19 season, Michigan has made a bowl game every year since 2014. Harbaugh got to the postseason in every season in charge, outside of 2020. In recent times, the College Football Playoff has become the standard for the program.
Michigan will fall short of that this go-round but can still get some extra practice and another game in with one more win.

Three games remain and two are opponents currently ranked inside the top 10. Indiana will host Michigan on Saturday, hoping to keep their undefeated season alive. Ohio State is then the regular season finale, a series where the Wolverines are currently on a three-game winning streak.
Nov. 16 against Northwestern is the safest bet for Michigan to pick up the all-important sixth win.
So what do the Wolverines need to do in order to reach a bowl game? Moore is still preaching the same message he has all year.
“The same things that we always talk about,” Moore said. “Take care of the football, take away the football. Got to create explosive plays in pass and run game and limit those on defense.”
