Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore shared he is praying for his mentor and the team’s previous head coach, Jim Harbaugh, amid his health scare. This came when Moore was sharing his thoughts and prayers for Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a massive leg injury playing for the Detroit Lions.

Prior to the Los Angeles Chargers game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Harbaugh was seen going into the medical tent before needing to return to the locker room. At the time, the team announced he was questionable to return due to an illness. Luckily, he did return to the sidelines.

“Also, Coach Harbaugh,” Sherrone Moore said. “I sent him a text. He’s going to the doctor today. So, he better go. I hope he’s doing well. But just prayers to both of them.”

There was an immediate reaction of concern, not just from Sherrone Moore, but all around the football world. That included Jim’s brother John Harbaugh cutting his postgame press conference short to make sure that his brother was alright.

In the end, as Jim Harbaugh explained, he suffered from an atrial flutter prior to the game.

“I guess a minor – it’s called atrial flutter. I got into an episode today with it,” Harbaugh said. “Doctors checked me out and it got back into sinus rhythm, normal rhythm so came back…I could tell there was some irregular beats. Had a couple ablations – one in 1999 and one in 2012. I always remember the one in 2012 since it was during the Monday Night game…It wasn’t even during the game. After the game, I got checked out. Ended up having to have an ablation for that one because it didn’t go back into rhythm.”

Harbaugh first hired Moore in 2018 to join the offensive staff at Michigan as a tight ends coach. He would later be promoted to offensive coordinator and offensive line coach and when Harbaugh faced suspension, he replaced him as the team’s acting head coach. In that 2023 season, Moore’s in-game coaching helped to keep an unbeaten season alive for the Wolverines on their way to a national championship. During that time, Harbaugh mentored Moore with the Michigan job ultimately going to Moore when Harbaugh returned to the NFL.

In his first season as the head coach at Michigan, Moore is 4-2 and has been dealing with a difficult quarterback situation. For his part, Harbaugh has the Chargers at 3-2, including a win after his medical scare.
