Sherrone Moore pressed on losing gracefully: 'We won'
After Michigan‘s 13-10 win over Ohio State on Saturday, a reporter asked Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore about the concept of “losing gracefully.” Moore didn’t entertain the idea for even a moment.
“We didn’t lose. We won. So I’m not going to worry about losing,” Moore said.
The question, of course, was a reference to the aftermath of the heated matchup. After the game, Michigan players attempted to plant their “M” flag at midfield. Ohio State didn’t allow the disrespect, immediately going after the flag.
The Wolverines took exception to Ohio State’s reaction and a scuffle erupted, with multiple players throwing punches. Things took a turn for the worse when Ohio State police used pepper spray on players to break up the fight.
As the chaos began to slow, Ohio State EDGE Jack Sawyer grabbed Michigan’s flag and tore it from the pole before throwing it to the ground. Following the fight, Michigan running back Kalel Mullings didn’t mince words about the Buckeyes.
“At the end of the day, some people, they’ve got to learn how to lose,” Mullings said. “You can’t be fighting and stuff just because you lost the game. All that fighting, we had 60 minutes, we had four quarters to do all that fighting.

“Now, people want to talk and fight. That’s wrong. It’s just bad for the game. Classless, in my opinion. People got to be better.”
Michigan has won the last four meetings between the two bitter rivals. However, Ohio State’s loss on Saturday was particularly painful for the Buckeyes. Ohio State was a heavy favorite against the Wolverines, entering the game as the No. 2 team in the country.
In comparison, Michigan has had a lackluster campaign in its first season under Sherrone Moore after winning the national championship last season. For reference, the Wolverines entered the contest with a mere 6-5 record.
Despite finishing the game with fewer yards, more penalties and the same amount of turnovers as Ohio State, Michigan emerged victorious. Now, the Wolverines won’t have to worry about losing gracefully — at least, to the Buckeyes — for another year.
