Year 1 for Sherrone Moore at Michigan has not gone the way he or anyone in the Wolverines program hoped that it would. The Wolverines are 5-5, including a 3-4 mark in Big Ten play, with games against Northwestern and Ohio State remaining,

Moore was asked during his press conference on Monday who he has leaned on during this difficult season. It’s no surprise that former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is someone he talks with regularly.

“Yea, the first one’s been coach Harbaugh. Just continue to strive to get better,” Sherrone Moore said. “He’s been through good seasons and he’s been through bad seasons, so he’s seen it all.

“Every week, maybe sometimes twice, three times a week. It could be a text message here or there. But we at least get on the phone once a week.”

Jim Harbaugh is obviously a good person for Sherrone Moore to turn to. While he ended his time with the Wolverines with three straight Big Ten titles and a national title, Harbaugh had his share of struggles the first six years he was at Michigan.

In addition to Harbaugh, Moore also shared who else he has turned to in the coaching profession for help.

“John, his brother, talked to him a good bit,” Sherrone Moore said. “Gotten to text with Mike Tomlin a little bit. And then coach Stoops is a guy I’ve been very close with my whole career. I obviously played for him. So those are guys that I talk to a lot and continue to talk to and lean on, because everybody needs that.”

Moore played under Bob Stoops at Oklahoma in 2006 and 2007.

This has been a frustrating season for Michigan, but Moore is still confident he is the right guy to lead the Wolverines program.

If Michigan can beat either Northwestern or Ohio State, the Wolverines will at least clinch a bowl berth for 2024. Obviously at this point, beating Northwestern seems more likely.
