Sherrone Moore ‘super excited’ by new-look tight end room
Michigan Wolverines offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore can’t wait until the start of the 2023 season. During a recent episode of Michigan football’s In the Trenches, Moore couldn’t contain his excitement as he explained his high passion for the upcoming year.
During his interview, the Wolverines’ offensive coordinator reveals that he’s excited to see his offense in action. But there’s one group he’s super enthusiastic about the promise they’ve shown in the spring, his tight ends.
“I’m super excited about that group; that group is special. Colston is an extraordinary talent in all facets: playmaker, catching the ball, high pointing, (and) yak. Even in the run game, putting his face on people,” said Moore.
Colston Loveland was the first name Moore threw out. The six-foot-five sophomore from Gooding, ID, was the team’s second among the position in receptions (16), yards (235), and touchdowns (2); he only trailed second-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2023 NFL Draft Luke Shoonmaker in each category.
But Moore wasn’t finished as he continued down the list of talent the Wolverines have in their tight end room.

“AJ Barner came in, and he just worked. And he was another guy that was a captain, and he’s just worked and grinded. He’s huge, first of all. Like he’s a giant human being, and for being that big and running that fast and being that acrobatic making plays in the air, it’s super special. But the guy Matt Hibner, man, we’re super proud of him and the spring he had. He just he took his play to the level that we knew he could. (He is) just confident, playing fast, playing physical, (and) playing to his strength. He’s a fast, fast, dude, and he finally showed it and opened it up. So, excited about him.
“And then Marlin (Klein), he’s still learning the game, and he’s kind of a freak athlete. He’s probably the freakiest athlete of all those guys. So excited to see him. And then (Max) Bredeson, steady Eddie, that’s just going to continue to help us too. So we got great depth in that room, and I feel like we’re in a great position.
While there are a lot of uncertainties yet to be decided for the upcoming 2023 season at Michigan, there is one thing for certain, according to Moore; the tight end room is chocked full of talent.
And if the group is as talented as the offensive coordinator has highlighted, they will play a massive role in the Wolverines continuing to stay atop the Big Ten conference.
