Luke Schoonmaker made his presence felt against TCU known early, making a big play for Michigan on a crossing route. However, he has not gotten back on the field, heading toward the sideline with some kind of injury.

Michigan decided to put the tight end in the medical tent, examining him further. Schoonmaker was then taken to the locker room and has not been back on the field yet.

“Schoonmaker out of medical tent and heading to locker room now,” John Niyo of the Detroit News tweeted.

“Luke Schoonmaker was in the medical tent with an apparent right shoulder injury,” ESPN sideline reporter Molly McGrath later said. “I can’t find him anywhere on the sideline. I’m told he’s being evaluated in the locker room but could return in the second half.”

In the play Schoonmaker made before the injury, he caught a 32-yard pass from quarterback JJ McCarthy. It was a tight window as McCarthy squeezed the ball in, making an impressive throw. While the overall result is a positive one on the field, Michigan seeing their tight end go down injured is less than ideal.

Schoonmaker has been consistent for Michigan this season, having 36 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

Michigan WR Roman Wilson head to locker room, returns to action

The Michigan offense were off to a tough start in the passing game, not getting much going over the opening three drives. The quarterback is just one for four with nine yards, including a pick-six to get the scoring going for TCU.

Those nine yards belong to Roman Wilson from a receiving perspective. However, he has not seen the field since, appearing to be in pain on the sideline after the play. ESPN color commentator Todd Blackledge then announced Wilson was in the locker room but did not provide any specific injury.

“We should note, also, Roman Wilson — caught the ball on that first possession, got hurt,” Blackledge said. “He’s in the locker room so they’re playing without one of their better starting receivers in the game right now.”

On3’s The Wolverine has since reported that Wilson is out of the locker room and standing on the Michigan sideline. He has made his way onto the field as well.
