Earlier this month, Manassas (Va.) native and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng made his first cut of top schools.

Michigan was among that group, but the Wolverines were yet to get the impressive prospect up to Ann Arbor. That changed this weekend, as the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder logged his first visit with the Wolverines.

Better yet for Sherrone Moore and his staff, Owusu-Boateng took to social media this weekend saying that he intends on returning in June for an official visit with the defending national champions. “See you back in June for an OV,” he wrote.

There’s still plenty of time for Michigan to emerge as a legitimate threat to land Owusu-Boateng’s pledge, as 12 other programs were also mentioned in his list of contenders. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina, Stanford, Texas and USC all also made the cut.

“I am big on relationships,” Owusu-Boateng told On3. “These are the schools that have reached out the most and shown the most interest in me as a player and a man. Outside of the relationships, one thing they have in common is, that they develop players. The schools on my list put guys into the NFL and they have coaches that care about life after football for their players.”

Thus far, Owusu-Boateng’s official visit schedule consists of trips to South Carolina (May 31), Stanford (June 7) and Georgia (June 14). The blue-chipper told On3’s Chad Simmons that he plans on taking his recruitment into his senior season.

“I am in no rush,” he said. “I am going to take my time and not compromise in my decision. Being developed as a man and a player is important to me and I am looking at it all when making a decision. Knowing what college football is today, I am looking to see who has my back and who wants the best for me.”

Wolverines aiming for another top-15 recruiting class

Michigan added a big piece to its 2025 class following its spring game last weekend, as Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick four-star defensive lineman Nate Marshall — the No. 40 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking — quickly announced his commitment after attending.

He’s now one of four prospects in the fold for Moore and Co. The class ranks No. 17 in the nation and No. 5 in the Big Ten, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The Wolverines are currently trending for multiple prospects in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, however.

Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot four-star quarterback Carter Smith committed to U-M last November and has continued to rise in the rankings, now checking in as a top-200 recruit and the No. 15 signal-caller in the nation.

Howell (Mich.) four-star DL Bobby Kanka has been pledged since the beginning of last August. He and Alcoa (Tenn.) three-star tight end Eli Owens round out the class, as of April 27.
