Elite 2023 wing Mackenzie Mgbako nabs Michigan offer
Nearly every program in the country is after Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard’s School forward Mackenzie Mgbako, and that now includes Michigan.
Mgbako, the No. 2 ranked player in the On3 2023 Top 50, picked up an offer from Juwan Howard and Co. on Friday.
The 6-foot-8 Mgbako recently grabbed offers from Kentucky and North Carolina, and Memphis, Duke, Ohio State, and LSU were also in to visit him within the last two weeks. Playing for the NJ Scholars on the Nike EYBL Circuit this summer, Mgabko averaged 17.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 43 percent from the field.

The Wolverines landed a consensus top-five recruiting class in 2021, which included On100 prospects Caleb Houstan (No. 11 overall), Moussa Diabete (No. 19), Kobe Bufkin (No. 45) and Frankie Collins (No. 57). Their 2022 class, while much smaller than the six-man 2021 group, features two more On100 members in Tarris Reed (No. 67) and Dug McDaniel (No. 100).
As a 2023 recruit, Mgbako won’t be eligible to sign with a school until more than a year from now, but Kentucky and Duke are reportedly at the head of the pack for Mgbako’s commitment, whenever that comes.
