Urban Meyer: Michigan doing exactly what they need to, ‘doing it very impressively’
Michigan has been rolling through the first half of the college football season ranked the No. 2 team in the country with a 6-0 record, which they’ve built through dominating every opponent they’ve faced so far this year.
The Wolverines have looked rock solid on both sides of the ball, and on ‘Urban’s Take with Tim May’, former Ohio State and Florida head coach Urban Meyer spoke on just how impressive they’ve looked thus far.
“There’s a lot to be said to that and that means you’re team’s well coached, you’re team’s prepared, and there must be really good leadership on the team. Well they do, they’ve go at very veteran team and they’re doing it very impressively,” Meyer said.
Michigan has gotten some flack for the strength of their schedule through the first half of the year, but they have been just as dominant versus non-conference competition as they have against Big Ten competition up until this point.
“To go on the road to Nebraska, I actually said that game might be close, it wasn’t close,” Meyer said. “I thought Nebraska’s defense would hang in there a little bit but they didn’t. And then Minnesota‘s not a walk in the park, that’s a tough place to go play.”
Their average win margin of 30.7 points ranks third in the nation, and their defense has been the best in college football in terms of yardage and scoring. But the elephant in the room is the two games they have in the month of November between the Big Ten’s other top teams that many anticipate shaping the conference championship and even the College Football Playoff race in the future.

Ex-coach addresses Michigan doubters
“But we all know it’s gonna come down to a three-game series, which by the way we have them all on FOX our team will be there, and I can’t wait,” Meyer said. “I mean at Penn State and then Ohio State up there. So they’re doing what they’re supposed to do.”
Just like the Wolverines, the Nittany Lions and the Buckeyes are still undefeated this season, with most anticipating that each of their first losses of the season will eventually come from one another.
But the difference between them and the Wolverines is how they have been winning, with Michigan displaying far more dominance throughout the season in all phases of the game compared to Ohio State, Penn State, and nearly every other team across college football.
It will be interesting to see if Michigan can maintain their dominance throughout the rest of the season, and especially in the month of November versus some of the nation’s other top teams.
