Urban Meyer to doubters of Michigan's talent on roster: 'You're out of your mind'
Urban Meyer doesn’t want to hear any doubters of the Michigan roster going into this game against Ohio State.
The former Buckeyes’ coach evaluated both teams all year and despite being a three touchdown favorite, you have to be careful with your rival. Michigan is just 6-5 this year and playing for a better bowl.
Ohio State has national title aspirations this season while the team up north rebuilds. But don’t get cocky.
“The minute someone says the Wolverines have bad players, you’re out of your mind,” Meyer said on The Herd. “They got excellent players, like you just said. They’ve had some quarterback issues, but quarterback can get fixed in a game. So I guarantee you there’s too much respect in that locker room at Ohio State. I know the coaching staff … You just work your tail off and find a way to win this game. So regardless of what the media says, the point spread, it doesn’t matter.”
Michigan is in quite a different spot than Ohio State this season. Although, current head coach Sherrone Moore was on the sideline last year filling in for Jim Harbaugh amid the latter’s suspension.

“I mean, I think it was a lot of collaborative effort with Jesse (Minter) and with those guys I actually had to make decisions throughout the game, timeouts, all those things,” Moore said of coaching against Ohio State. “But really the rivalry piece is the rivalry piece. It’s intense, it’s fun, it’s what you want to do. So the strategy last year was to call pretty aggressive and that’s what we did so we’ll continue internally to have those decisions as a group.”
Michigan shouldn’t be underestimated
Ohio State will play host this season. But regardless of where the game is, or the spread is as Meyer alluded to, emotions are high for “The Game.”
“I don’t know about an emotional tax,” Moore said. “It’s fun. It’s everything you want to be when you grow up as a kid, whether you want to be a coach, whether you want to be a player, this is what you want to do, you want to be in these types of games, so it’s awesome to be a part of. It’s a lot of work. It’s something you think about all year and it’s an exciting time for us.”
