Two of the top coaches for the Michigan Wolverines shared a moment after Michigan upset the Buckeyes at home 42-27. After the game, as fans rushed the field, the head coach of Wolverine basketball, Juwan Howard, embraced and congratulated head football coach Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh and Michigan were able to subdue the high-powered offense of Ohio State. With the ruckus environment created by Wolverine fans at the big house and their elite pass rush, Michigan kept the Ohio State offense in check for the majority of the game.

But MVP honors of the game go out to Michigan running back Hassan Haskins. Haskins had a monster game on the ground carrying the ball 28 times for 169 yards and five of the six Wolverine touchdowns. Thanks to him and the Wolverines’ execution on third and fourth down, 5-8 on third and 1-1 on fourth, they were able to beat the Buckeyes defense into submission.

This win holds extra sentimental value for both coaches. Both are star alumni players who have returned to Michigan to restore their respective programs back to their glory days. Howard is known for being a member of the Fab-5, which was a legendary recruiting class for the Wolverines back in 1991. In his time there, he helped lead the Wolverines to two NCAA championship appearances.

Jim Harbaugh played at Michigan from 1983 to 1986. In his 1986 season, he was a Heisman Trophy finalist and led the Wolverines to the Rose Bowl after defeating Ohio State 26-24. He is famously known for guaranteeing a victory over the Buckeyes and making good on his word that season.

Michigan fans storm field, celebrate win over Ohio State

The Michigan Wolverines have knocked off rival Ohio State for the first time since 2011, kicking off a celebration in The Big House and across the state. As the final whistle blew, fans stormed the field at Michigan Stadium to start the party with coaches and players in the middle of a snowy fog.

A career day from running back Hassan Haskins helped set the tone on Saturday. His 28 carries brought 169 yards and five touchdowns. A big day from defensive end Aidan Hutchinson on the opposite side of the ball helped ensure victory and allow Michigan fans to storm the field.

Michigan is now 11-1 heading into a Big Ten Championship game against the Wisconsin Badgers. Entering the day No. 5 in the College Football Playoff, the Wolverines will expect a big boost as they fly into the top-four and assert themselves as national championship contenders.
