Will Johnson injury update: Michigan CB's status revealed vs. Michigan State
Michigan cornerback Will Johnson is not expected to play against Michigan State on Saturday night, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Johnson left last week’s game against Illinois with a lower body injury. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore updated the status oh Johnson earlier in the week.
“I think right now, if I was a doctor — and I’m not a doctor — I’d put him as questionable. We’ll see how he rolls this week,” Moore said of Johnson’s potential status for Saturday.
Johnson is dealing with an apparent toe injury, which forced him to leave the Illinois game last week in the first quarter. Despite losing the former five-star recruit, the Fighting Illini were only able to throw for 80 yards on 19 attempts.
“We definitely wanted to play a different style to help the guys,” Moore said last week about his depleted secondary. “We thought that would help them — and I thought it did. We didn’t give up a lot of explosive plays down the field, and I thought the corners, even when Will went out, played really well.

“We got a couple pass interferences, but sometimes that’s the cost of doing business in football, like a holding call, depending on where it is. So I thought those guys played well and made it hard for those receivers to get open, and they did a really good job.”
Wolverines reportedly make decision on starter vs. Michigan State
Michigan has reportedly made a decision on a starting QB for Saturday’s game against Michigan State. Davis Warren is expected to be the starter, according to a report from CBS Sports.
Warren began the year as Michigan’s starting quarterback, getting the nod through the first three games of the year. However, he hasn’t played since Week 3 as Alex Orji and Jack Tuttle took turns under center.
Warren completed 66.7% of his passes for 444 yards and two touchdowns across his three starts this year. However, in his final outing, he went 11-for-14 for 122 yards but threw three interceptions in a victory over Arkansas State.
