2022 TE Nathan Jones flips commitment to Minnesota
Brock (Texas) High tight end Nathan Jones started Tuesday as an Abilene Christian commit. He ended the day as a Minnesota commit.
Jones flipped from the Wildcats to the Golden Gophers on Tuesday, announcing the news on his Twitter account.
“I can’t say enough about ACU!” Jones tweeted. “I love the coaches and the players there, they have all treated me first class! I’m thankful for the opportunity that ACU has given me, and I love the heritage that my family has with them! Coach Fleck has given me an opportunity that I can’t pass up!”
It was a quick transition for Jones, who was offered by Minnesota on Saturday while visiting Minneapolis.
He is the first commit for the Gophers since the summer.
Jones was set to be a fourth generation athlete at Abilene Christian. His father, Jay Jones, was a Division II All-American linebacker for the school in 1991.
According to MaxPreps, Jones has 23 catches for 283 yards and four touchdowns through seven games as a senior.
