3-star OT Zay Alexander commits to Mississippi State
Tupelo (Miss.) three-star offensive tackle Zay Alexander committed to Mississippi State on Friday. The 6-foot-6, 350 pound prospect chose the Bulldogs over multiple programs including Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas.
Alexander is the No. 509 overall prospect and No. 39 offensive tackle in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 11 player in Mississippi and Mississippi State’s second commitment of the day following Hattiesburg (Miss.) three-star linebacker Tabias Hinton.
The Bulldogs’ 2023 recruiting class is now ranked No. 41 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 10 in the SEC. The Bulldogs’ group currently contains 11 commitments. Alexander is the third 2023 offensive tackle to choose Mississippi State alongside Nashville (Tenn.) Franklin Road Academy three-star Joe Crocker and Laurel (Miss.) three-star Malik Ellis.
This summer has been good for the Bulldogs on the recruiting trail. They landed Alexander, Crocker and Hinton this month. In June, they notched commitments from Norcross (Ga.) three-star wide receiver Nakai Poole, Clarksdale (Miss.) three-star safety Kelley Jones, Itta Bena (Miss.) three-star athlete Dante Kelly and Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove three-star cornerback Jaylen Aborom. These players committed over a nine-day period.

Other members of Mississippi State’s class include Bay Springs (Miss.) three-star athlete Ty Jones, Katy (Tex.) three-star running back Seth Davis and Lexington (Miss.) Holmes County three-star EDGE Joseph Head.
Alexander is the fifth-highest ranked prospect in the class behind only Jones, Hinton, Crocker and Davis. Jones and Hinton are the Bulldogs’ only top-500 recruits. During his recruiting process, Alexander took three unofficial visits to Ole Miss.
