With the season starting in Starkville, Chris Jans has updated the program’s plans for Adrian Myers and EJ Paymon Jr..

Jans had the latest on Myers and Paymon Jr. during a press conference on Wednesday. Unless something were to change over the course of the campaign, Mississippi State will be redshirting both players this season.

“It is. Right now, the plan is to redshirt both of those young men,” said Jans. Certainly, like you said, things could change but, if we all had our druthers, that would be the case all year long.”

This is the second collegiate season for Myers while it’s the first for Paymon.

Myers appeared in 10 games last year for the Bulldogs. In three minutes per game, he averaged a point and half a rebound. He also had shooting splits of 36.4% from the field and 22.2% from three.

Myers, a native of Woodstock, Virginia, played high school basketball at Massanutten Military Academy. He was the No. 293 overall recruit and a three-star prospect there in the 2023 cycle. He also rated as a Top-60 PF and a Top-10 player in his state that year. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Paymon Jr., a native of Raymond, Mississippi, played in high school at Raymond. He was the No. 173 overall recruit and a three-star prospect in this last cycle in 2024. He was also the No. 32 PF and the No. 1 player from out of the state.

Myers was the fourth highest-rated player in his respective class with the Bulldogs. Paymon Jr. was then second in their latest class of commitments behind only Dellquan Warren.

Mississippi State may still end up seeing either one of Myers or Paymon depending on the next four months go. However, as for the start of the year, each are expecting to sit it out ahead of the following season for the Bulldogs.
