Jeff Lebby has been one of the nation’s better offensive minds of the past few years. Now, with him set to get his first head coaching gig at Mississippi State, the information regarding his contract in Starkville has come out.

Lebby’s contract is a four-year deal with an average base compensation of $4,510,000. Lebby’s contract also includes multiple performance incentives including rewards for being named SEC Coach of the Year, National Coach of the Year, winning the SEC and more.

You can see the entirety of Lebby’s contract details below.

As a player and coach, Lebby has spent most of his time in Norman with the Oklahoma Sooners. Most recently, that has been as the offensive coordinator for Oklahoma under current head coach Brent Venables. He played there until an injury ended his playing career and he got his start as a student assistant under Bob Stoops.

That came after four years where he spent two at UCF and two at Ole Miss in a similar role leading the offense and working with quarterbacks. Prior to that, he had been an offensive assistant under his father-in-law, Art Briles, at Baylor.

In 2023, Oklahoma’s offense under Lebby is ranked fourth in total offense, averaging 502.4 yards per game this season. The Sooners are also third in scoring offense this season, with 43.2 points per game.

While Jeff Lebby does not run the Air Raid offense, he does run an offense that is expected to translate better to the talent already on Mississippi State’s roster from the Mike Leach era than was run during the 2023 season. Meanwhile, his experience at Ole Miss is expected to help him recruiting within the state of Mississippi, giving him both an SEC background and a local one as well.

Jeff Lebby addressed fans in Starkville

Jeff Lebby recently arrived in Starkville. There, he was met by fans at the airport and addressed them directly.

“It’s humbling,” Lebby said. “I just absolutely love the fact that I’m gonna get to go to work every single day at a place that has such passion….and such toughness about playing football. And I love the fact that there’s incredible support. There’s been great players here for a long time. We’ve got great players here right now. And I can’t wait to get around the guys. That’s what it’s all about.”

Jeff Lebby also shared his plan for the offense at Mississippi State moving forward.

“Exactly. I think people understand what we’ve done in the past. We’re gonna be a football team that scores a bunch of points. We’re gonna put a very exciting brand of football for everybody who is so passionate about the game of football here at State. You guys are gonna be incredibly proud of what’s happening on Saturday afternoons at Davis-Wade. That’s a promise.”
