Mississippi State defensive back Emmanuel Forbes, Jr. is one of the most gifted defensive backs in all of college football. He’s already cemented his legacy in Bulldog history as one of the best defensive backs ever to suit up at the school. Today, against East Tennessee State, Forbes stamped his name in college football history, snatching the sixth pick-six of his Mississippi State career, setting the SEC and national record.

Check it out below, as he snatches the interception, uses a spin move to elude a ETSU player, and takes it back all the way to the house.

Mississippi State cruised past ETSU on Saturday afternoon, 56-7.

The pick-six put the Bulldogs up 28-0 with a little bit over nine minutes remaining in the second quarter. The record is yet another impressive feat that Forbes can add to his already prestigious college football resume. He very well could win the Jim Thorpe Award at season’s end–given to the nation’s top defensive back.

Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers had yet another excellent day. He completed 30 of his 37 pass attempts for 301 passing yards, while tossing five touchdowns and no interceptions. Sophomore Justin Robinson led the team in receiving yardage–he hauled in five catches for 62 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Last season, Forbes started all 13 games for the Bulldogs, racking up 60 tackles on the season. He led the team with three interceptions returned for a total of 33 yards. As a true freshman, he became the first Mississippi State defender with two interceptions in a game since Mark McLaurin did it against Louisville in 2017.

Forbes and the Bulldogs will finish off their 2022 season in the Egg Bowl against the Ole Miss Rebels. That one is set for November 24th. Kickoff will be at 7:00 PM EST and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
