Emmanuel Forbes exits Egg Bowl early in third quarter with injury
The Mississippi State Bulldogs just got a dose of devastating news on Thanksgiving night in the third quarter of the Egg Bowl. Their star corner, Emmanuel Forbes, Jr. got his hand tangled up while trying to make a tackle. He was seen on the ground for a few minutes afterward, visibly in pain. Forbes left the game with just under nine minutes remaining in the third quarter, with the assistance of trainers and medical staff. He was seen holding his hand while leaving the field. Losing their star corner would be huge for the Bulldogs’ defense, as they already had their leading tackler, Nathaniel Watson get banged up. They also had offensive lineman Kameron Jones suffer an injury on Thursday night.
The good news for Mississippi State is that their defense was still pretty stout throughout the night and they prevailed 24-22 in a classic. The Bulldogs’ run defense limited Ole Miss star running back Quinshon Judkins to just 87 rushing yards and no touchdowns. The weather turned into a downpour in Oxford.

Emmanuel Forbes is one of the best players in school history
Forbes has already cemented his legacy in Bulldog history as one of the best defensive backs ever to suit up at the school. Last weekend against East Tennessee State, Forbes stamped his name in college football history, snatching the sixth pick-six of his Mississippi State career, setting the SEC and national record.

Last season, Forbes started all 13 games for the Bulldogs, racking up 60 tackles on the season. He led the team with three interceptions returned for a total of 33 yards. As a true freshman, he became the first Mississippi State defender with two interceptions in a game since Mark McLaurin did it against Louisville in 2017.
