2024 EDGE Jay Lindsey commits to Mississippi State Bulldogs
Butler (Ala.) Patrician Academy EDGE Jay Lindsey announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Sunday night. He chose the Bulldogs over Liberty and Vanderbilt among others.
Lindsey is not ranked in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking or the 2024 On300. He is 6-foot-4 and weighs 235 pounds.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play football at the next level,” Lindsey wrote on Twitter. “I also want to thank my parents, coaches, and friends for supporting me through the years. Without them, none of this would be possible. With that being said, I have committed to Mississippi State University!!”
Mississippi State’s 2024 recruiting class now contains four players. They are Lindsey, Mobile (Ala.) Baker four-star quarterback Josh Flowers, Headland (Ala.) Headland School athlete Caleb Dozier and Winona (Miss.) Winona Secondary School offensive tackle TJ Lockhart.
Following Lindsey’s commitment, the Bulldogs’ group ranks No. 53 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. It is also No. 13 in the SEC.
Mississippi State is heading into its first season under new head coach Zach Arnett. He succeeded Mike Leach, who passed away in December at 61.
Lindsey has an On3 NIL Valuation of $12.6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Mississippi State notched a top-25 class last cycle
Last year, the Bulldogs landed the No. 22 class in the country. It contained three top-400 prospects, including Fulton (Miss.) Itawamba Agricultural four-star safety Isaac Smith.
Mississippi State’s 2023 class ended up including seven cornerbacks. Four of them were high school recruits: Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep three-star cornerback Luke Evans, Snellville (Ga.) Shiloh three-star Brice Pollock, Clarksdale (Miss.) three-star Kelley Jones and Theodore (Ala.) three-star Will James.
Of Mississippi State’s signees last cycle, three earned four-star status. They were Smith, Gainesville (Fla.) F. W. Buchholz wide receiver Creed Whittemore and Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood quarterback Chris Parson.
One other 2023 Bulldogs signee was included in the top 600 of the 2023 On3 Industry Ranking. Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Blackman three-star wide receiver Justin Brown finished No. 565.
Meanwhile, Mississippi State’s group also contained one player at Lindsey’s position. Lexington (Miss.) Holmes County three-star EDGE Joseph Head chose the Bulldogs on Jan. 22 and eventually signed with the program.
