Josh Hubbard on his future at Mississippi State: 'Let's run it back'
The Mississippi State Bulldogs men’s basketball team put together a respectable run in the 2023-24 season, and one of their key contributors is looking to run it back next season. Mississippi State’s star point guard Josh Hubbard pledged his loyalty to the program on social media, revealing that he intends to remain in Starkville, MS, after this year.
“Let’s run it back Starkvegas, year 2 loading…,” said Hubbard via X.
Hubbard was the top Mississippi State recruit in their 2023 class and the top men’s high school basketball player to come out of the state of Mississippi. He played high school basketball at Madison Ridgeland Academy in Madison, MS, where he was a four-star prospect. According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, he was the No. 111 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle.
Cameron Matthews to return to Mississippi State too
Forward Cameron Matthews also announced his decision to return to the Bulldogs for the 2024-2025 college basketball campaign on Friday in a lengthy social media post.
“I’m back.” Matthews wrote in his announcement. “Thank you Bulldog family for the love and support you showed us during the run to our second straight NCAA Tournament last season. It means so much to compete in front of sold-out crowds at the Hump. Being a student athlete at Mississippi State means a lot to me and to my family being a Mississippi kid. I’m extremely thankful that they’ve been with me every step of the way, and they’ve been able to see me grow these past four years.”

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
“We’ve got more memories to make and more goals to achieve. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be wearing the Maroon and White one more time in 2024-2025. I’m appreciative to Coach Jans and our staff for the lessons they’ve taught me and for trusting me to be a leader. I work hard every day to be the best player I can be and can’t wait for what’s in store next season. Hail State, Mook.”
With Hubbard and Matthews staying with the program for the 2024-25 season, that gives Mississippi State two key contributors returning for a possible deeper run next season.
