LOOK: Mike Leach at Mississippi high school football game
Mississippi State is on a bye this weekend. As a result, head coach Mike Leach decided to take in some in-state high school football.
Leach is attending the game between Tupelo (Miss.) and Clinton (Miss.) on Friday night. Three-star offensive tackle Zay Alexander, who has been committed to the Bulldogs since July 29, attends Tupelo.
Yesterday, Leach watched Fulton (Miss.) Itawamba quarterback Ty Davis. The signal-caller spoke with On3’s Sam Spiegelman about Mississippi State’s head man observing his play.

“My initial reaction was obviously just wow,” Davis told Spiegelman. “To know Coach Leach personally came to see me throw and felt I was good enough to play for him is an honor. Leading up to the game, I knew Coach Leach would be there, but also knew just to play like myself and don’t try to be perfect.”
Mississippi State’s 2023 recruiting class is currently No. 33 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 11 in the SEC. It is led by Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood four-star quarterback Chris Parson, the No. 350 overall prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus.
