Mike Leach hilariously shuts down question about first half officiating
There were a number of calls that didn’t go the way of Mississippi State in the first half against Georgia, and coach Mike Leach let officials know it. In the second quarter, Leach was seen having a long discussion with a referee on the sidelines after MSU appeared to force a fumble but it was later ruled that Georgia’s forward progress was stopped and the ball was down.
ESPN’s Molly McGrath asked Leach his reaction to some of the calls in the first half as he headed back to the locker room, prompting a snarky but hilarious reaction from the coach.
“What’s your reaction?” he asked. “You’re watching the same game I am. I think you ought to comment on it, positive or negatively. Whatever’s running through your mind.”

Even for all the calls that didn’t go Mike Leach and Mississippi State’s way, they trailed just 17-12 entering the locker room. MSU’s only touchdown of the half came when Zavion Thomas returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown with just three seconds remaining in the half.

However, even when he was asked about that big momentum shift, Leach didn’t appear to be in a chipper mood.
“It’s big,” he said. “Every play’s important in a game like this. So, yeah.”
Unfortunately, things didn’t get much better when the second half began, as Georgia opened with a pair of touchdowns to increase its lead even more. Currently with just 10 minutes remaining in the game, Georgia is still comfortably ahead with a 38-19 advantage.
