Mike Leach provides hilarious injury update on Kwatrivous Johnson
Mississippi State coach Mike Leach said there is no worry about the injury to Kwatrivous Johnson after the offensive lineman left Saturday’s 45-14 victory against Bowling Green and did not return.
Although Johnson was seen on crutches and wearing a boot on his left leg on the sidelines, Leach described him as “healthy as a horse” to reporters postgame.
“Well, Dollar Bill’s healthy as a horse and nearly superhuman,” Leach said. “So the dimension of that I think is tough to unfold in a place like this without some scientists and genetic specialists. But he’s doing exactly what we want him to do and doing great.”

Even with Johnson sidelined, the Bulldogs offensive line did a solid job of protecting quarterback Will Rogers. They gave up only two sacks for the entirety of the game as Rogers finished 39-of-50 passing for 409 yards and six touchdowns.
Coming off of a loss last week against LSU in which the offensive line surrendered four sacks, it was a much-needed win for MSU to get back on track.

“I think it went pretty well,” Leach said of his offensive line play. “I think we had a rough series the first half where we gave up two sacks. I wasn’t very impressed with that. In practice they move them around, and the other thing is that the most important position is offensive line. Hands-down the most important position. There’s people that argue that, but they’re wrong. Either that or they don’t know much about football or offensive line, and probably both. But definitely the most important position. The toughest position. The most physically-demanding and also the one that needs to be choreographed the most.
“Because you can’t hide a weakness at O-line because the defense can move their guy wherever they need him to be instantly. Whereas O-line you can’t flip him here or flip him there, but they can move their guys fast as you do. So I do think these guys are improving. I think they need to steadily improve. I don’t think they’ve played their best football yet, but they are improving.”
Mississippi State will hope to have Kwatrivous Johnson back from injury by next week’s game against Texas A&M at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.
