Mississippi State forward KeShawn Murphy enters NCAA transfer portal

Mississippi State forward KeShawn Murphy has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He does so after three years with the Bulldogs.
Murphy had a real breakout season in 2024-25, playing his best basketball to date. Even then he only started three of 34 games, showing he’s still got considerable upside left to unlock.
During the 2024-25 campaign, KeShawn Murphy averaged 11.7 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He also chipped in 1.6 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.9 steals per game. He was a thoroughly effective stat stuffer.
Murphy had five double-doubles this season for Mississippi State. He also recorded a 20-point outburst early in the season in a game against Pittsburgh.
His production this season comes after a much more quiet first two seasons in Starkville. He averaged 4.7 points and 3.1 rebounds as a sophomore, while averaging 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds as a freshman.
ESPN was the highest on KeShawn Murphy out of high school, ranking him as a four-star prospect with an 83 grade. The Worldwide Leader ranked him as the No. 86 overall prospect in the class and the No. 18 power forward.

Mississippi State center enters transfer portal
KeShawn Murphy isn’t the only big man to enter the transfer portal this offseason at Mississippi State. Center Jeremy Foumena also entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. He originally began his college career at Rhode Island.
Foumena saw reduced playing time this past season with the Bulldogs. As a freshman with Rhode Island, he played in 28 games and finished with 5.3 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and shot 52.5% from the floor.
As a member of the Class of 2022, Foumena was not ranked, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played his high school basketball at Orangeville Prep (Montreal, QC).
On3’s Nick Kosko also contributed to this report.
