Looking to add to its top-30 recruiting class, Mississippi State is now trending for two four-star prospects according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Mississippi State insider Paul Jones logged a pair of expert predictions — both with 80% confidence levels — for the Bulldogs to land De Kalb (Miss.) Kemper County four-star offensive tackle Mario Nash and Lexington (Miss.) Holmes County Central four-star cornerback Cortez Thomas.

Mississippi State now leads in the RPM at 90.4% for Nash and 93.9% for Thomas.

MSU pushing hard for Mario Nash

Nash announced on Thursday that he will take an official visit to Starkville on June 2. Last month, Nash released a top 10 consisting of Mississippi State, Florida State, Penn State, Ole Miss, LSU and Miami among others and is leaning toward an August commitment date. He will be in Baton Rouge visiting LSU this weekend.

Previously, Nash visited Mississippi State in January.

“State’s coaches have been calling me and staying on me strong in recruiting,” Nash told Marron and White. “Their coaches really liked what they saw me do at the Under Armour combine. They are really big on me and they are trying to keep me here in the state.”

Cortez Thomas wants a closer look at revamped Bulldogs program

As for Thomas, both the Bulldogs and in-state rival Ole Miss have been battling in his recruitment. Thomas has visited Mississippi State around 10 times and last saw the Bulldogs for an unofficial visit on the weekend of January 13.

In November, Jeff Lebby took over as Mississippi State’s head coach. The Bulldogs’ leader has already made a strong impression on the four-star.

“Coach Lebby is definitely a cool guy,” Thomas told On3 last month. “Some things are going to change with him there.”

“They definitely intend to (keep recruiting me hard) and I have to keep going,” he previously told On3 on January 30. “I’m trying to understand how the program goes, so I want to get to more practices.”
