Mississippi State has unveiled some fire throwback uniforms for the 2023 season.

As the Bulldogs enter a new era with Zach Arnett leading their program, they’re looking towards the past to move into the future. Mississippi State is bringing it back to 1998, with some awesome threads that’ll debut during this season.

Check them out below, as it features the interlocking MSU, back to commemorate the 25-year anniversary of State’s 1998 SEC Western Division championship.

“Feeling’ like ’98 (fire-emoji),” tweeted Mississippi State, accompanying the photo of the uniforms.

According to the Bulldogs, they’ll rock these uniforms on Nov. 4 against the Kentucky Wildcats, which is also their homecoming game. It’s perfect timing to bring a blast from the past.

1998 offensive lineman Pork Chop Womack is more than excited to see them back on the field, as he explained in a press release from the program, accompanying the revelation.

“That mark is special to me,” Womack said. “It’s like our mark in history. When you see that logo, you know what it means. It was one of the best times in Mississippi State history, and I got to be a part of it. I’m forever grateful.”

Evidently, the uniforms and throwback logo represents a lot to Womack, including toughness, greatness and success. That’ll mean the world when the Bulldogs rock these, and hopefully they’ll find a way to get a win while donning them.

“We were just a bunch of guys willing to do whatever it took to get the job done,” Womack added. “Everybody goes into every year saying they’re going to do this or that…But those were all special guys and it showed. The team we had and the leaders on that team that we had were completely fearless.”

Additionally, Womack believes it’s the perfect time to bring these uniforms back, as he believes wholeheartedly in what Arnett is bringing to the program.

“One thing about it, when you see the energy we have right now, it’s amazing,” Womack added. “[Coach Arnett is] bringing that to us right now. You see the fire in his eyes. It’s just going to trickle down to everyone and you’re seeing that fire in their eyes, too.”

It’s a new era for Mississippi State, but it’s always nice to see teams looking towards the past to move forward in their future endeavors. That’s exactly what the Bulldogs are doing here, and it bodes well for the future of the program.
