Mississippi State safety Corey Ellington enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Mississippi State safety Corey Ellington has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
Ellington played in 31 games across three seasons of play for the Bulldogs. He started seven games in 2023, recording 66 tackles, four tackles for loss and a forced fumble. He set a career high with 12 tackles in the season finale on Thanksgiving.
Ellington has been a reliable presence for the Bulldogs secondary now for years, and would be an immediate veteran presence likely capable of starting from the jump wherever he ends up landing. He also played some cornerback early in his career, an intriguing spot for the 6-foot-3 Ellington to try and use his length to his advantage.
Ellington played high school football at Holmes Country (Miss.) Central High School, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1014 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
